CRICKET Cricket is widely
played throughout South Africa in both cities and rural areas.
We recommend a tour which begins in one of our vibrant first
world cities, moves through the rural areas and finishes back
in the city, allowing your club to get the full South African
experience. The rural areas are vast plains with farms placed
many kilometres apart and are covered in indigenous game.
Cricket clubs established by the British settlers who arrived
in 1820 are found in these areas and are still run by the
farming communities, who take pride in maintaining these beautiful
country grounds. There is something totally Afro-exotic about
having to chase a surly Kudu off a cricket pitch just before
the first ball is bowled but what really makes cricket in
these areas unique is the massive sense of open space around
the grounds. Players get to see how city cultures differ from
farm cultures in the harshness and excitement of Africa.

We have two great tour options
| Cape Province
Cricket Tour
This tour begins in the city of Cape Town and runs
through the Garden Route, South Africa’s premier
tourist destination, on to Port Elizabeth where it moves
through the rural interior of the Eastern Cape an area
steeped in history and cricket tradition. Enjoy the
sights and sounds of two of South Africa’s most
beautiful coastal cities while at the same time visit
an area of vast open space teaming with wildlife.
Why we recommend this
tour:
This tour offers the best of both worlds as it combines
a visit to two of our large modern cities with a tour
through the very underdeveloped East Cape interior,
which will provide ample game viewing opportunities.
Cricket venues have been hand picked to ensure that
your tour is an unforgettable experience. We have
included a match at aSante Sana, a game farm, near
Graaff Reinet with a first class cricket ground and
batting wicket as well as a game at the MCG (Mill
Cricket Ground) in the farming area of Bedford. The
MCG played host to the Bangladesh test side in 2002
and they rated their visit there as the highlight
of their tour.
Highlights of
the Tour

| Settlers
Cricket Tour
Tour dates: Book at own convenience.
Cricket is played throughout South Africa, from cities
to farms, but nowhere do cricket traditions, both black
and white, run deeper than in the Eastern Cape. Start
off in a vibrant first-world city and move through the
heart and soul of South African cricket. Enjoy a full
South African cricketing experience... not to mention
vast plains teeming with indigenous game. The first
South African cricket clubs established in the East
Cape by 1820 British Settlers are still running today.
Why we recommend this
tour:
This tour moves between the beautiful Indian Ocean
cities of Port Elizabeth and East London, along the
Sunshine Coast, with a detour into Frontier Territory
(named after the Frontier wars between British settlers
and Xhosa warriors during the 1800s). Cricket is played
hard on the field and even harder back in the pub.
Together with hunting, cricket is high on the priorities
of farming communities. The Settlers cricket tour
will prove to be an experience you will never forget.
Highlights of
the Tour
- City tour in Port Elizabeth and East London
- A night at the Seaside Resort Kenton-on-Sea
- Two nights accommodation at aSante Sana, a privately
owned game reserve
- Cricket on the aSante Sana oval beneath the mountains
- Cricket at the MCG near Bedford
- Accommodation at Crawford’s Cabins on the
dunes overlooking the ocean at Cintsa East
- Five cricket matches are played at unique grounds
throughout the Eastern Cape, ranging from big club
venues in Port Elizabeth to small settler established
clubs in the farming areas, including a game at a
rural venue against one of the previously disadvantaged
clubs for the prize of half a sheep.
